Dog Boarding

For our canine campers at Camp Catawba, we have specially-designed indoor-outdoor lodges or cozy cabins to ensure their safety and security. 

Our lodges offer larger and more active dogs the opportunity to relax in a climate-controlled area at night and spend time chilling’ indoors or stretching their legs outdoors during the day. 

Many of our lodges can also accommodate family pets who like to stay together.  Our smaller indoor cabins allow house pets the option of feeling secure in their own personal space.

Cat Boarding

Our staff will feed your cat according to your specifications and their needs, to ensure their time with us mimics their routine at home as closely as possible. 

We provide daily one-on-one interaction with kitties (if they want it) including pets, snuggles, and play. Litter boxes are checked, cleaned, and disinfected periodically throughout the day. 

Cats also have their own space options in their own “No Dogs Allowed” area. The regular cabins provide plenty of space, yet allow cats who are “homebodies” privacy and peace and quiet.

The feline lodges are two-story condos with a separate “en suite” litter area and a view of the Camp Catawba lobby.

• What accommodations and amenities do you have?

  We've got everything your pet needs for a fun, recuperative, and safe stay, including the following accommodations and amenities:

  Dogs

  Canine Cabins (indoor boarding): Cabin size is 2 ’ 6” x 2’ 6”

  Canine Lodges (indoor-outdoor kennel run): Lodge size is 5’ x 4’ (inside) and 7’ x 4’ (outside)

  Family pets can stay together in a double cabin or lodge depending on size.

  Cats

  Our feline accommodations surround a large window overlooking the reception area, so our feline campers can watch everyone as they come and go during the day.

  Feline Cabins (indoor boarding): Cabin size is 22” wide x 21 1/2” tall x 28” deep.

  Feline two-story lodge. Lodge size is 39” wide x 25” tall x 26” deep.

  (Provides your cat with a main living area with a raised shelf and section where the litter box is kept, and a view of the Camp Catawba lobby.)

  Family felines can share lodges.

• Can family pets share space?

  Many of our lodges can also accommodate family pets who like to stay together. Family felines can share lodges.

• Is there a limit to the number of pets I can board at a time?

  We have a large facility and are able to accommodate several animals at once, provided you give us sufficient notice.

  Depending on the circumstances, we may be able to board family members (canine/canine or feline/feline) together.

• How much does pet boarding cost?

  Boarding fees vary based on the duration of the stay, the size of the pet, and special medical requirements. That said, our pricing is affordable and competitive, and we welcome you to contact us for a quote.

• What time should I drop off and pick up my pet?

  All pets must be dropped off or picked up by 5:00pm Monday - Friday and by 12:00pm on Saturday. A $40 convenience fee is assessed for late drop off or pick up. Reservations are required. During holidays and summer weekends we recommend that you call 1 to 2 months in advance to increase the chance that a spot will be available.

• What should I pack for my pet?

  Food: We provide food for pets staying with us. However, please feel free to bring enough of your pet's regular food to last the duration of the stay.

  Medication: If your pet takes any medication, bring it along for our staff to administer.

  Toys: If your pet has a special toy or two, bring them along.

• What if my pet needs to take medication?

  We will be glad to administer your pet's medications while they are with us.

  Yes, feel free to call us during your pet's stay for updates. If there is a problem, we will contact you via the emergency contact information you provide.

• What about my pet's meals?

  All pets staying with us at Camp Catawba enjoy the highest level of nutrition, with meals planned, prepared, and supervised by our doctors and experienced staff. (Sorry, we don’t serve hot dogs or S’mores!)

  If campers have special dietary needs, due to sensitive tastebuds or special allergies, please let us know, and we can make the necessary arrangements.

• What should I know about Custom TLC packages and Day Boarding?

  Custom TLC Packages

  An important part of any camp experience is the activity program. Camp Catawba offers customized “TLC” packages which include various outdoor playtimes for dogs in our fenced campground, and indoor play for cats in their lodge room.

  Campers signed up for the TLC packages avoid “cabin fever” and really seem to enjoy their time out of their lodge.

  Day Boarding

  Many of our pets come to spend time with us as day campers while their family is at work (a few come to have a play day from time to time.)

  Camp Catawba offers prearranged express check-in and check-out to make the most of your valuable time. Ask our camp staff for details about this service.

• How should I prepare for my pet's stay?

  Each animal is different. To prepare for your pet's stay with us, we'll take the following steps to ensure that we can meet their unique needs.

  Step 1: Contact us to get started

  Call us to book, and to discuss details about your pet and your boarding needs. A member of our team will be happy to coordinate your booking.

  Please note that, due to the nature of our accommodations, we do not accept unaltered dogs or cats. Pets must be up to date with all vaccinations and free of fleas and ticks to stay at our facility.

  Step 2: Set your pet up for success

  On the day you drop your pet off with us, there are a few steps you can take to help reduce any stress your pet may feel.

  Hours

  Monday – Friday: 7:30am – 6:00pm
  Saturday: 8:00am – 1:00pm
  Sunday: 5:30pm – 6:00pm*

  *For your convenience, we offer Sunday pick-up for your pet. This is a prearranged service. Ask for further details. A full day’s boarding is charged for pets picked up on Sunday between 5:30 pm- 6:00 pm. $25.00 convenience fee is assessed when a pet is picked up during Sunday courtesy hours without prearrangement.

  Spend some extra time with your pet beforehand, and make sure they get some vigorous exercise so that they are feeling calm. When you arrive at our facility, stay calm, cheerful, and confident during the separation.

• Do you offer Express Check-In, Check-Out, and Pre-Arranged Pick-Up?

  Yes. These are our protocols for Express Check-In and Check-Out?

  Express Check-In

  If you would like to speed up your check-in process, even if you already have a reservation confirmed, you may call ahead for precheck-in over the phone, or you may submit a boarding request form online with all the pertinent information.

  Express Check-Out

  When you return for your pet, you can already have your pet’s stay charged to your Credit Card and quickly be back home together. Ask for further details.

  Prearranged Pick-Up

  You will not be charged for the day of pickup if discharged before 11:00 am, except for pets being bathed or groomed who may be picked up after 4:00 p.m.

  Admission and discharges are made during routine office hours only. Pets should be picked up on the agreed day of discharge. If your pet is not picked up by the scheduled date, a $25.00 boarding fee will be charged for each day that is not scheduled. Pets left without proper arrangements may be legally considered abandoned.

  Catawba Animal Clinic is about pets AND people, and that is certainly true of Camp Catawba. Our experienced staff and pet care specialists who feed and clean and play with your pets are the heart of our camp.
