Vaccinations

One of the most important breakthroughs in both human and animal health is the development of modern immunizations. Because of routine “shots”, devastating diseases such as Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, and Feline Leukemia can be safely controlled. These vaccines are important, but they must be used properly, and not overused. Fortunately, the technical advances in immunizations have made them more effective, longer lasting, and safer than ever before. We will develop a specific set of vaccine recommendations for your individual pet based on its age, lifestyle, and health history, and consistent with our (and your) perspectives on preventive care. We will always keep human health and your pet’s own health our priorities as we work together to protect your pet from preventable diseases. Serving the Rock Hill, Fort Mill, York, Baxter and Tega Cay, SC areas.

Recommended Vaccinations for Dogs

  • Distemper/Parainfluenza
This vaccine protects your pet against a widespread and often fatal disease which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, pneumonia and neurological problems.
  • Hepatitis/Adenovirus
This vaccine protects your pet against a viral disease which may lead to severe damage to the liver, kidney, spleen and lungs.
  • Parvovirus
This vaccine protects your pet against a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease which may cause severe vomiting and bloody diarrhea. It is especially dangerous in young dogs, but all unvaccinated dogs are at risk of contracting this severe disease.
  • Leptosporosis
This vaccine protects your pet against a bacterial infection that may lead to permanent kidney and liver damage. It is contagious to humans and dogs and is spread through contact with infected urine or contaminated soil or water.
  • Bordetella
This vaccine protects your pet against a highly contagious, cold-like respiratory infection.
  • Rabies
This vaccine protects your pet against a fatal viral infection of the central nervous system that can affect all mammals, including humans. The virus is transmitted through the bite of an infected animal.

Recommended Vaccinations for Cats

  • Panleukopenia
This vaccine protects your pet against a widespread and potentially fatal disease which may cause a sudden onset of severe vomiting and diarrhea.
  • Viral Rhinotracheitis
This vaccine protects your pet against a common respiratory infection which can be fatal in kittens. Sneezing, decreased appetite and fever, followed by a thick discharge from the eyes and nose, are often observed.
  • Calicivirus
This vaccine protects your pet against an upper respiratory infection with signs similar to viral rhinotracheitis.
  • Feline Leukemia Virus
This vaccine protects your pet against an infectious virus which can cause serious disease and death. The virus decreases the ability of the immune system to respond to infection and may lead to the development of different types of cancer.
  • Rabies
This is a fatal viral infection of the central nervous system that can affect all mammals including humans. The virus is transmitted through the bite of an infected animal.
