Melissa is a Rock Hill native graduating from Northwestern High School in 1997. She attended Clemson University (Go Tigers!) for her undergraduate studies and graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. After earning her degree, she pursued her post doctoral education as an Intern in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Hollywood Animal Hospital in Hollywood, FL.
Interestingly, Melissa started working at Catawba Animal Clinic in 1995 as a part of the kennel team. She continued as part of the team throughout her time at Clemson and had experience as technician, receptionist, as well as kennel staff prior to her entering veterinary school in 2001. She re-joined the Catawba Animal Clinic team in 2011 and her professional interests include geriatric medicine, ophthalmology, surgery, and pain management.
At home, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband William, their daughter, Hazel (2012) as well as their 3 and 4 legged cat and dog children. She also enjoys the water either spending time at the beach or with her family on their boat.
