“A bond between a pet and his family is a wonderful experience. Sometimes, however, a pet’s longevity requires the skills and expertise of well qualified veterinarians. Without the intervention from great medical professionals in North and South Carolina, our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Vinjari, would not be with us today.
Back when Vinjari was only 11 months old while on a trip from Upstate New York to Raleigh, he experienced bloat. A local vet in Raleigh told us he would not survive and he should be put down. Needless to say we were devastated. We went to the Veterinarian College in Raleigh right away to seek a second opinion. Thanks to them his life was spared.
We have been with Catawba Animal Clinic in Rock Hill since our move here in 2002 and have seen Dr. Platt and Dr. Troutman. Since 2002 Vinjari has experienced a couple of other life threatening conditions. In 2007, soon after an auto accident, he developed a perineal hernia with complications. Upon Dr. Platt’s examination, with his expertise and guidance, he immediately referred us and made arrangements for a meeting with a veterinarian associate in Raleigh, which in turn, saved his life again. Dr. Platt’s compassion and follow-up exams aided in his full recovery. Then in August of 2011, we discovered a growth on his thigh which appeared rapidly. Dr. Platt took a biopsy and the tests revealed that it was indeed a malignant spindle cell sarcoma. Surgery was scheduled and was successfully removed.
Vinjari will be 13 years old this August, an advanced age for a Ridgeback. Dr. Platt and Dr. Troutman have been there for us for Vinjari’s wellness checkups as well as the more difficult times. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all at Catawba for your compassion and direction which has surely extended the life of our beloved family member.”
